Keeping it all in perspective...

Summer 2014 with the Boyen Bunch Quote of the summer so far comes from Lorelei yesterday.  She was in shock to hear Bailey say "God isn't real."  Since 6th grade world history, my super analytical and highly intelligent son, began to question whether God existed.  His questioning came from perfect logic...how can all of the other religions be wrong and only Christians are right?  Being a parent who has decided to let my children discover religion for themselves, I haven't pushed the issue with him.  Back to Lorelei, so Bailey again made some comment about God not being real.  Lorelei suddenly seemed to have a very clear perspective of Bailey.  "Mommy," she said, "Now I know why Bailey is always so grouchy!  He doesn't believe in God!  Well, I do!"  And that was the end of that conversation! ;). I think she may be onto something, but it's something Bailey will have to figure out for himself. ~~~~~~~~~~   Our s...

School's out for summer!

And the Boyen Bunch couldn't be happier!  We started our first night off right... Lorelei held a popcorn stand. Her customers were happy too...it was free popcorn! We had breakfast for dinner at 8:30 p.m. :) The kids are still up, no baths and certainly not ready for bed! They look pretty happy to me...they said goodbye today to 1st, 2nd, 6th and 8th grade. As for me, even though I'm not officially off yet, since I have to finish up packing my classroom tomorrow, I'm feeling stress free and extraordinary! ;) Happy summer friends!

May madness and moments...

Never complain about a quiet month...because May came in like a lion!  Forget March and it's "in like a lion" and it's "madness". It's May around here that makes my head spin! There has been one wonderful moment after another! This post could have easily been 5-6 separate blog posts but this month has been so full already...ain't nobody got time for that! (as Sweet Brown says!). So I crammed it all in one mid-month post! Jonas had a Fiesta performance. (4-28) So handsome...and loving on his baby sister. Field trip # 1...with Jonas downtown.  A river boat ride and the Alamo. (5-1) Fiesta float parade at school. (5-2) Savannah had step one of her two part surgery to remove a congenital cyst called a Thyroidglossal Duct Cyst.  Part two will be June 11. (5-2) Someone turned 7! (5-3) A gymnastic themed party including ribbon sticks! She loved decorating her own cupcakes! Field trip #2-to the...

This moment...

{this moment} from Soulemama...www.soulemama.com   {this moment} ~ A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.   Breaking the rules a bit...couldn't do "no words".  This week needed a few words. What a week...standardized testing for 2 days (both a teacher giving the test and a momma with kids taking a test,) plus the most horrifying experience I ever faced as a teacher and a parent...a threat against area elementary schools claiming mass violence was going to occur on April 24.  Thank goodness, it didn't and the district went above and beyond to provide safety and protection...SO, I was so grateful today was a school holiday and I spent the day with my own four kiddos.  Jonas and Lorelei were ready for a walk...

Hoppy Easter...with The Boyen Bunch!

Easter moments 2014... Family traditions... Prep work... Now that's a lot of eggs! Some Bunny came to town. ;) Easter basket aftermath. Framily... The Bunch! Helping hide eggs. Action shot! Not too big to hunt yet! Dainty girl tiptoeing in the flowers. She's got the loot! Sporting his first bow tie! It was a delightful day, despite the rainy, drizzly weather.  Hope everyone had a Hoppy Easter too!
