Snow day...Texas style

We've been blessed with two, three day weekends in a row!  Why can't we just move to a 4 day work week all the time?  I would be such a calm and organized mom!  Regardless, I very much appreciate the time we have had the last two weekends. Friday, schools were closed due to inclement weather.  Basically, there was sleet and ice.  No snow...bummer.  Most of it was melted by noon, but roads were closed all over town.  San Antonio is not equipped to handle icy roads.  We will take what we can get.  :) I took this picture around noon. The rest of the tree had melted, but this spot was closest to the house, out of the sun. It was a super relaxed day around here: sleeping in, p.j.'s past noon, Legos, tea parties and afternoon naps.  We capped off the evening with Chinese take-out from our favorite local place. Savannah and Jonas worked on a Stop animation Lego movie all morning. Sitting directly in front of the fireplace, trying to stay extra warm.

"The Melody of a New Year"

I'm not sure how you all feel about resolutions, but I personally like them. I may not master or complete the resolution, but even the attempt at making life better is enjoyable to me. Here are just a few of my 2014 resolutions...   ~Less technology for all.  Let me start this one by saying, as a mom, I don't allow that much technology and my kids naturally love imaginative play, reading, outside time, arts/crafts and drawing.  That being said, I have been know to let them play on Minecraft for hours or play on the iPad for longer than they should.  I'm just as guilty too...I can get sucked into FB, Instagram, Pinterest and reading blogs for hours.  Real books rock too, I should spend the hours buried in them, while cuddling up with the kids. Reading buddies.  He helps her wit the words she doesn't know.  He doesn't tell her, but he coaches her through the pronunciation.   ~Dating my kids...I hashtagged this picture with #datingmykids, and then tagged

Ringing in the new year, Boyen Bunch style...

We said goodbye to 2013 kid style, with some friends, fun, food and fondue!   Drawing by Jonas The girls... The boys... Fondue fun! Don't worry, he woke up in time to ring in the new year! We took new year's day slow...enjoying the fresh start.  I took the kids out to the park since it was the warmest day of our break.      We walked into the new year...feeling ready to take on the world, welcoming the fresh start!
