Home sweet home summer adventures...

We are homebodies.  I'm not saying we don't enjoy road trips and vacations, but we also don't mind just being at home.  Summer is that time of year when everyone, (and seriously I think everyone I know, has gone somewhere!) takes off on some sort of travel adventures.  The Boyen Bunch, for various reasons, chose to make our own at home adventures.  I realize my family members are creatures of habit, predominantly introverts and our summers have looked the same for about the past 4-5 years!  Sad, but true.  I feel  mommy guilt sometimes, that I'm not doing more or offering more opportunities to my kids.  I think they are pretty happy and content though. We've had park time... Pool time... Meal time... Naptime... Chill time...( AKA avoiding chores time) Playtime... Doctor's time... Gardening time... Outdoor water playtime... Spin art time... Nightly walking time... Home sweet h

Cactus Pear Music Festival

Music was a huge part of my childhood, teen years and early adulthood.  I lived for music.  I was a highly accomplished pianist.  In fact, in case I've not mentioned it before, I went to the University of Florida on a Piano scholarship with every intention of being a concert pianist.  Then reality hit...I wasn't that good.  Plus, I didn't really want to work that hard.  My life headed a different direction, but I still minored in music and continued to play for fun into adulthood.  I even taught piano lessons for a few years, until I had children of my own.  I'm so grateful that these "children of my own" found music too.  Bailey was a bit of a late bloomer musically.  He started the viola in 5th grade strings.  He was immediately a natural at viola.  In his opinion, the best in the class.  Middle school proved that statement true.  1st chair viola, all 3 years at Garcia MS and 1st chair as a freshman in Varsity Orchestra at Health Careers.  He joined YOSA

Post worthy summer moments and other ramblings...

It's funny, I was at the park last week with Jonas and Lorelei, after dropping Bailey off at a rehearsal.  We were feeding the ducks, watching birds and turtles and playing on the playground.  I was snapping pictures as always, mostly because I got a new phone with a great camera (switched from an iPhone 5 to the new LG G4). Jonas said, "You should post those mommy."  It struck me funny.  Is this what our lives have become?  Are we looking at life through a lens wondering if it's post worthy or not.  Are we only willing to share the pretty, positive moments?  OR...has social media provided us a forum in which to share the day to day beauty of ordinary life?  It is certainly interesting to think about.  Last night at the pool, the first thing my friend Roslene and I wanted to do was document and share the moment.  As if it wasn't really happening if we didn't quickly get the pictures up on Facebook!  I have been doing more writing this summer, but it's be
